How to register as a Voter for the SK and Barangay elections 2016?
The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) urges the youth (15-30 years old) to register for the Sangguninang Kabataan (SK) polls. The invitation is also extended to those who will turn 18 or did not vote in the recent National election last May.
The SK and Barangay elections will be held on October 31.
The registration will begin today, July 15 (Friday) up to July 30 (Saturday). You can visit your local COMELEC offices even on Sundays or holidays to process this.
Registration for Barangay elections will also be held during this period.
Persons who wish to run in the SK polls must be between 18 to 24 years old.
Any Filipino citizen who is not yet a registered voter, may apply for registration, provided he/she possesses the following requirements and qualifications:
REQUIREMENTS:
- Personal appearance in a local COMELEC office
- 2 valid IDs with the applicant’s photograph, address, and name
Accepted IDs:
- Current employee’s ID with the signature of the employer or authorized representative;
- Postal ID;
- Student’s ID or library card, signed by the school authority;
- Senior Citizen’s ID;
- Driver’s license;
- NBI/PNP clearance;
- Passport;
- SSS/GSIS ID;
- Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) ID;
- License issued by the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) and;
- Any other ID which fits the criteria
KATIPUNAN NG KABATAAN (KK):
- At least fifteen (15) but not more than thirty (30) years of age as of the day of the election (October 31, 2016);
- Residing in the barangay for at least six (6) months on election day;
- Not otherwise disqualified by law.
- Registered Voters as of May 9, 2016 National and Local Elections and those who will register for the Barangay Election who are eighteen (18) but not more than thirty (30) years old on or before October 31, 2016 shall be included in the list of voters for the Katipunan ng Kabataan.
BARANGAY ELECTIONS:
- At least eighteen (18) years of age on or before October 31, 2016 Barangay Elections;
- A resident of the Philippines for at least one (1) year and in the place wherein he/she proposes to - vote, for at least six (6) months immediately preceding the October 31, 2016 Barangay Elections; and
- Not otherwise disqualified by law.
- Any person, who has not reached the required voting age or period of residence on the day of registration but will possess such qualifications on or before the October 31, 2016 Barangay and SK Elections may register as voter.
DISQUALIFICATIONS:
- A person who has been sentenced imprisonment for not less than one year, which is not removed by plenary pardon or amnesty;
- Any person who has been found guilty of rebellion, insurrection, violation of the firearms laws, or any crime against national security; and
- Insane or incompetent person as declared by competent authority*
*The said person may be allowed to vote if he/she is subsequently declared by competent authority that he/she is no longer insane or incompetent.

MR. AND MS. CHINATOWN PHILIPPINES WELCOMES 30 NEW HOPEFULS FOR MONTH-LONG PAGEANT
Fil-Chi Media Productions Incorporated
(Chinoy TV), in cooperation with Miss Chinatown Foundation, introduces 30 young,
spirited and talented men and women as this year’s official candidates for the
Mr. and Ms. Chinatown Philippines pageant, co-presented by Oriental Group and
the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry
Incorporated.
Now on its 3rd year, the coveted
search in the Chinese-Filipino community has come down to 15 boys and 15 girls,
ages 18 to 26 years old, who personify unity
in diversity and an effort to stay true to opulent traditions while
adapting to the changing times.
In what is set to be a month-long journey,
the candidates will compete to represent the excellence of the Chinese-Filipino
youth in areas such as leadership, the arts, entrepreneurship and academics. Two
will emerge as ultimate victors who will each be taking home 500,000 pesos
worth of prizes.
Unity
in diversity
Timely challenges in relations between two
different yet vibrant nations have ignited a parade that transcends a show of
beauty and charisma. More importantly, the Mr. and Ms. Chinatown Philippines
2016 candidates will be endorsing an advocacy of oneness and a developed sense
of belonging at a time they are needed the most.
This pageant serves as an eye-opener, that
through the union of two cultures and making the best of both, there can be
unity in diversity. “By emphasizing this advocacy, we can expect more from the
candidates this year in terms of their vision and commitment throughout the
course”, promises Alvin Kingson Tan, President of Fil-Chi Media Productions.
Month-long
events
Leading to the main event in a month’s time,
Mr. and Ms. Chinatown Philippines 2016 will have a Talent Competition on July
10 at The Lucky Chinatown Mall where select candidates will be showcasing their
creative takes on personal skills; a Cultural Costume Competition on July 17 at
Eastwood Central Plaza, to flaunt the fusion of traditional and modern
Chinese-Filipino through colorful ensembles; and, a Swimsuit Competition x
Fashion Show on July 20 at the Chaos, City of Dreams Manila.
To conclude, the candidates will be facing
off in the grand coronation night set to happen on July 31 at the Resorts World
Manila, to be directed by Paolo Valenciano, and will air exclusively on the
home of Kapamilyas, ABS-CBN, on August 7 after Gandang Gabi Vice.
