Visa-Free Entry for Filipino Tourists Extended Again, Taiwan Tourism Administration Forms Delegation to Join Philippine Travel Expo and Promotion Events

Taiwan recently announced a one-year extension of the visa-free entry policy for Filipino travelers to Taiwan (until July 31, 2026). In response, the Taiwan Tourism Administration, swiftly organized a Taiwan tourism delegation comprising 50 representatives from 25 organizations, including the Taichung City Government, travel agencies, hotels, and airlines. The delegation will travel to the Philippines from July 11 to 13 to participate in the Travel Madness Expo (TME) 2025.

According to the latest data from the Taiwan Tourism Administration, the visa-free policy has significantly boosted travel from the Philippines. In Q1 of 2025, arrivals from the Philippines reached 146,581—an impressive 29% increase compared to pre-pandemic levels, making the Philippines the fastest-growing source market globally and the largest source market in Southeast Asia.

At TME, the Taiwan Tourism Administration will set up a "Taiwan Pavilion" themed around its Tourism Brand 3.0 campaign, “Taiwan – Waves of Wonder.” The pavilion will use vivid colors and playful elements to showcase the charm of Taiwan across all four seasons. Highlighted within the pavilion are popular Instagram-worthy landmarks such as Taipei 101, Taichung’s Rainbow Village, the Taiwan International Balloon Festival in Taitung, and the Morning Hot Springs of Green Island—inviting Filipino visitors to take memorable photos while experiencing Taiwan's rich and diverse travel appeal.

To amplify the impact of this year’s promotion, the Taiwan Pavilion has invited top Filipino influencers, including Carl Chuidian (The Chui Show) and well-known travel vlogger Mommy Haidee. Both will share their firsthand travel experiences in Taiwan, along with must-try cuisine and attractions. Their appearances are expected to generate significant buzz and draw more Filipino travelers to choose Taiwan as their top travel destination.

In recent years, travel from the Philippines to Taiwan has continued to surge. Taiwan’s close proximity, short flight time, diverse cuisine, and distinctive attractions—especially the high-speed rail system, which the Philippines lacks—are all key factors in attracting Filipino tourists. In 2024, Taiwan welcomed 467,000 Filipino visitors, the highest among all Southeast Asian countries. The growth momentum continues in 2025, with a 25.38% increase in arrivals during January to March compared to the same period in 2024. The Philippines now ranks as Taiwan’s top Southeast Asian source market and sixth globally, demonstrating remarkable performance.

To further strengthen Taiwan–Philippines tourism industry cooperation and attract more Filipino travelers, in addition to participating in the TME, the Taiwan tourism delegation will also host promotional events in Iloilo (the Philippines’ 4th largest city) and Cebu (the 2nd largest city) on July 15 and 16. These events will bring together over 100 key travel professionals, airline representatives, and mainstream media. They will showcase Taiwan’s newest attractions and tourism incentives, aiming to sustain and expand the strong growth in Filipino visitor arrivals and open up new opportunities for Taiwan’s tourism in the Southbound market.

Taiwan Excellence launches their annual contest for innovative proposals, with this year’s theme entitled: “Go Healthy with Taiwan.” To improve global health standards and promote overall well-being in communities and cities around the world, Taiwan Excellence encourages those from governments, institutions, and organizations to submit their original ideas that integrate holistic solutions and high-quality health products from Taiwan.

The “Go Healthy with Taiwan” campaign brings into the spotlight five key sectors of Taiwan’s health industry: smart healthcare, medical aesthetics and wellness, fitness equipment, sports technologies, and bicycles. Long recognized as the “Bicycle Kingdom,” Taiwan is a global leader in high-end bicycle manufacturing and innovations in sustainability. Taiwanese companies are among the world’s top suppliers in fitness equipment, integrating AI with strong R&D and manufacturing capabilities. In smart healthcare, Taiwan leverages its advanced ICT, semiconductor expertise, and elite medical system to offer integrated solutions for the global health tech market.

“Go Healthy with Taiwan” Global Kickoff Event

This coming Father’s Day, gear up for the ultimate vinyl experience at the One Stop Record Fair happening at Ayala Malls Trinoma Activity Center from June 14 to 15.

The quarterly vinyl record fair promises to take everyone on a nostalgic journey and be reconnected through timeless tunes that have soundtracked generations.
From classic rock anthems to beloved OPM hits, jazz and soul, the event will bring a vast collection of rare, vintage and new vinyl records that will delight dads and music enthusiasts alike.
Last March, Ayala Malls Trinoma housed the One Stop Record Fair: Vinyl in Motion for two days, right at the heart of Quezon City, which drew in patrons, curious mall-goers and the younger generation.
Due to public demand, the One Stop Record Fair: Vinyl in Motion Dad’s Day edition will come back to Ayala Malls Trinoma for something bigger and better.

The staple all-day old-school music spun by Manila’s veteran DJs, the intimate and nostalgic atmosphere and a great selection of vinyl records were maintained but more upgrades set it apart from prior fairs.
Over 20 vinyl vendors were present, but beyond music, there were also CDs, cassette tapes, band shirts and other vintage items, such as coins and bills, and collectibles sold at the event.
Trinoma also added its own spin to the event, by offering free freshly made mocktails from TGI Fridays and beautifully curated flower bouquet from Smitten. Customers just need to present a minimum single receipt worth P500 from any Trinoma merchant.
“The energy at our last One Stop Record Fair at Ayala Malls Trinoma was electric!” Sari Osorio, organizer of the One Stop Record Fair, said.

“As we gear up for our upcoming Father's Day event, we are thrilled to see the community so excited about records, art, collectibles and of course, the vinyl community. Let's make this Father's Day one to remember!” She added

Rex Education Celebrates 75 Years of Commitment to Education at AECON 2025

Mr. Don Timothy Buhain (Chief Executive Officer, Rex Education), Dr. Karol Mark Yee (Executive Director, 2nd Congressional Commission on Education - Phils) and Atty. Dominador Buhain (Chairman & President, Rex Education)

Rex Education marked its 75th anniversary at AECON 2025, held on January 16-17 at the Gallio Events Hall in Parañaque. The theme, celebrating 75 Years of Commitment to Quality Education: Seamless and Meaningful Learning Experiences Through Assessment, Intervention, and Enrichment, highlighted the company’s dedication to education. Nearly 1,000 educators, school leaders, and stakeholders attended the two-day event, which focused on addressing key educational challenges through insightful discussions and knowledge-sharing.

Gathering of Change Makers in Education
Each year, AECON addresses pressing issues in education, equipping teachers and leaders with valuable insights and solutions. This year, as part of its 75th anniversary, the focus is on creating seamless and meaningful learning experiences for every learner and educator.
In his opening remarks, REX COO Roger John Y. Fontelera highlighted that education is not a one-size-fits-all approach. He stated, "This year’s AECON isn’t about giving ready-made solutions. Instead, it’s about creating a space for reflection, learning, and collaboration. We want to provide you with stepping stones—resources, strategies, and ideas—that you can adapt to meet the specific needs of your schools, communities, and learners."
Department of Education (DepEd) Undersecretary Peter Irving Corvera delivered a keynote address emphasizing the urgency of preparing Filipino learners for an increasingly digital world. He reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to developing future-ready learners by integrating technology, enhancing critical thinking, and strengthening public-private collaborations.
One key session featured a panel discussion with respected education experts and policymakers:
  • Dr. Karol Mark Yee, Executive Director o of the Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM 2)
  • Dr. Dina Joana Ocampo, Professor at the University of the Philippines and former DepEd Undersecretary for Curriculum and Teaching
  • Ms. Rhodora Ferrer, Executive Director of the Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC)
  • Atty. Joseph Noel Estrada, Legal Counsel of the Coordinating Council of Private Educational Associations (COCOPEA)
Moderated by Dr. Edizon Fermin, Vice President for Academic Affairs at National Teachers College, the discussion focused on improving learning outcomes in the Philippines. It emphasized evidence-based policy decisions, stronger accountability among education leaders, and the importance of authentic assessments to accurately measure student progress.
In the afternoon, Dr. Amy Berry, Director of EngagED Consulting, led a plenary session on student engagement. She challenged traditional approaches and introduced innovative methods that empower both teachers and students to co-create meaningful learning experiences.
A Moment of Gratitude and the Symphony of Learning
The second day of AECON began with a Thanksgiving Mass celebrated by Most Reverend Jesse Mercado, Bishop of Parañaque, reflecting on the journey of Rex Education and its mission to support Filipino education.
After the mass, REX CEO Don Timothy Buhain introduced the Symphony of Learning Solutions, a suite of educational resources supporting lifelong learning, from early childhood to professional development. This initiative highlights REX’s commitment to integrating assessment, intervention, and enrichment for educators and learners.
Buhain compared learning to a symphony, where every effort, resource, and voice comes together to create something meaningful. He assured, "The symphony will improve—with practice, continuous learning, change, and execution. In the future, there will be additions when they are necessary. We will listen and count on our Edukampyon community, including the voice of our learners."
The Symphony of Learning Solutions includes lesson exemplars, learning instruments, digital platforms like Schoology, and targeted assessments to ensure well-rounded education at every stage.
A Unified Pledge for Quality Education
As the congress concluded, a spirit of unity filled the hall as attendees stood for the Edukampyon Pledge. Led by Jeanne Marie Tordesillas, Chief Marketing Officer of REX, this solemn moment reaffirmed the commitment of educators and education stakeholders to advancing quality education, advocating for policies that support meaningful learning, and prioritizing the best interests of Filipino learners.
75 Years and Beyond: The Edukampyon Commitment
Reaching 75 years is a testament to Rex Education’s dedication to every learner and educator it has served. The journey continues.
In his message of gratitude, REX Chairman and President Atty. Dominador Buhain thanked all the Edukampyons and shared, "Seventy-five years, and our work is not yet done. The future demands more from us, and we accept that challenge with open hearts and minds... We vow to continue listening, learning, and innovating to provide high-quality learning solutions for every Filipino learner."
As Rex Education looks beyond 75 years, its commitment remains—to be the trusted katuwang of every Filipino educator, school, and learner, fostering lifelong learning for generations—para sa bata, para sa mamamayan, para sa bayan, for life.
